10 part Wing Chun Video Course
1: The Principles of Wing Chun – Momentum Wing Chun Kung Fu
In this video Andre Quin explains the basic principles of Wing Chun.
- Simplicity Directness / Centre Line
- Economy of Movement
- Minimum use of brute strength aka muscles
- Practicality
2: Force in Wing Chun explained by Andre Quin, Momentum Wing Chun
In this 2nd video Andre Quin explains the basics of how Force is generated in Wing Chun; why using proper technique, structure and relaxation can generate a lot more power than would be possible using muscular strength alone.
3: Shapes in Wing Chun explained by Andre Quin of Momentum Wing Chun
In this video Andre Quin explains the different shapes used in WIng Chun and how we can use structural strength in shapes to sustain great amounts of force without the need for muscular strength.
4: The Power of Frictionless Motion Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
Watch Andre Quin explain how frictionless motion allows Wing Chun practitioners to generate power many times greater than would be possible using muscles alone. This is the 4th video in a series of 10 explaining how the Wing Chun System works.
5: Everything is a pull – Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
Watch Andre Quin explain how we generate power in Wing Chun using “pulling” vs “pushing” in all our moves. A great concept that will help many practitioners understand how to move and generate power without using muscles.
6: Order of the Powers – Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
In this video Andre Quin explains the order of the powers as taught by Sigung Chu Shong Tin and described in his book “The Book of Wing Chun”. Understanding the order of the powers is key to moving and generating power in the right order and is instrumental to understanding the Wing Chun System. Special thanks to Sifu Mark Spence, because even though I read about the order of the powers in “The Book of Wing Chun” I didn’t really understand them until Sifu Mark Spence further elaborated and demonstrated in real life how they work. I hope that with this video I can share the knowledge and help others better understand the order of the powers also.
7: Relativity – Mass, Relaxation & The Mind – Momentum Wing Chun
Using the example of the Sun, the Earth and the Moon, Andre Quin explains how relativity affects our power in Wing Chun and how the mind can relax the body resulting in more mass & power relative to the opponent.
8: Counter Rotations – Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
Counter Rotations are a very powerful tool to understanding how Wing Chun works and how to move in a certain way to achieve a desired outcome. Especially for advanced students, understanding counter rotations can be a very effective way of improving movement, or searching for answers when power generation is not working. Credit once again to Sifu Mark Spence for having nutted out the long time riddle of counter rotations and shed light onto a question that had us all puzzled for so long. I must say, we had a good time working it out though : ) Note this can be a trick topic to understand. I did my best to explain it a simply as possible, but please feel free to contact me if you have any questions of would like further explanation.
9: The 3 Empty Hand Forms – Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
Watch Andre Quin explain the nature of each of the 3 empty hand forms, (Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Gee) and how they relate to each other.
10: Chi Sau – Momentum Wing Chun – Andre Quin
In this video I talk about the basics of Chi Sau, from single sticking hands (Dan Chi Sau), to using two hands, switching positions by running palms as well as some of the most common traps. Having my Wing Chun roots in Chi Sau Club, I am extremely passionate about Chi Sau and would like to give credit to Sifu Mark Spence who taught me everything I know about Wing Chun.
